Albedo

Albedo is a scientific term that refers to the measure of the reflectivity of a surface. It quantifies the fraction of incoming sunlight that is reflected by an object, such as a planet, moon, or asteroid, relative to the total amount of sunlight that strikes it. Albedo is expressed as a value between 0 and 1, where a value of 0 represents a perfectly absorbing (black) surface that reflects no light, and a value of 1 represents a perfectly reflecting (white) surface that reflects all incoming light. In general, higher albedo values indicate brighter surfaces that reflect more sunlight, while lower albedo values indicate darker surfaces that absorb more sunlight. Albedo plays a significant role in climate and planetary science, influencing the temperature and energy balance of celestial bodies.
